Losi XX CR Kinwald NIB build

I have decided to build my NIB Losi XX CR Brian Kinwald buggy. It is one of the prized possessions in my RC collection. I have stared at it long enough, and feel it is time to open it up and assemble.

I have several vintage upgrades I will be adding, without over doing it. I will be taking my time and enjoying the build as much as possible. I will do my best to keep this thread updated with photos of the build. Enjoy!

Here are some of the upgrades I am thinking of adding. I will definitely add all Ti gold hinge pins, as well as the Jammin front brace. Still undecided on the Trinity rear hubs.

Keep us posted! Are you doing the body like the box art?..

Yes, I will be painting the body box art.

I was originally going to keep the front bulkhead and steering assembly the stock color. However, Kinwald always had a black bulkhead. I am going to dye them black. I have done this on most of my XXT builds, and it is a much cleaner look.

I finished dying the parts. The bulkheads on these XX series vehicles take a loooooong time to dye. For some reason it does not take the color near as quickly as the other pieces. I ended up cooking it for about an hour.

I chose to install the composite outdrives. Since this will be a shelfer, they should be able to hold up to the stresses. I like the look of these outdrives over the plain stock units. I also added the aluminum MIP CVD bones. These were hard to find, and it was painful to cut into the packages, but they sure look sweet on this buggy.

I also added a silver Fantom transmission brace. I think this goes well with the silver Jammin front brace.

I also dyed the foam things black, for that stealth look.

Here are some better pictures with decent lighting. This thing is a real nice looking buggy. I love all the details on it.

I got her rolling tonight. She sure is pretty.

I plan on adding the same electronics as shown in the box art photos. I have been hunting for a Trinity D2 motor for awhile now. I had one lined up, but the seller kind of screwed me. The esc and receiver shouldn't be too difficult to find.

The Racers Prep Power Zone motor I have in the car now actually looks really good. The purple matches well with the spur gear. I added the anodized blue screws to the shock collars. I didn't want to over do it on the blue, but I think they look good. Plus, Kinwald always used them I believe.

I embarrassingly admit that I think this is the first NIB XX I've seen. Really enjoying your build!

Haha, welcome to my world. I guess I have done it so many times I just got used to the time and it doesn't seem so long. Black is by far the worst of course. Other colors are not bad at all.

Thanks all.

Here are some better pictures. I wish the true color of the blue showed better in these photos. In person, it is very vibrant.
