I highly doubt the FB thing will pull people away from the forum. Since I would wager a high percentage of this member list is of about the same age and mentality, we've all pretty much had similar experiences with technology. Most are tinkerers and have worked with computers from a decently young age.

Most know that the PC/forum style is great for this type of hobby and the mobile space just isn't the same. I can't tell you how many times I have to tell the wife to stop doing whatever she is trying to do on her phone/tablet and go use her laptop.

the FB thing is nice for looking at pics and liking and some B/S/T, but that's about it. I suppose the messenger also works well if you want to jump on a sale item.

I think the biggest threat for this forum is lack of the 3rd party hosted images - Gives the impression, the site is abandoned or headed that direction.

I think the long term guys will always stick around, the ones where RC played a big part of their lives.

The ones where vintage RC is just a fad or whatever will likely move on eventually. There are exceptions always but I have to agree with jwscab. Most of us experienced RC through the same period. Most of us are tinkerers and had to make stuff work and modified our own stuff.

Most kids these days aren't really interested in radio control cars, or if they are lose interest as soon as it breaks. When you tell the brushless generation people about the stuff you did to go fast back in the day they are surprised.

Modern racers just want to buy parts and be told what set up to use, yet are surprised why you still pull a couple car lengths with the same running gear because you cleaned out your bearings, free'd up the drive train and tweaked the motor.

and I certainly am able to see it. It's unfortunately desperately obvious.

and I don't have a miracle solution, either. I'm just afraid that giving any chance to members to go somewhere else than the forum itself will accelerate what is happening already.
scr8p wrote: Wed Jul 26, 2017 11:57 am So my question is now..... for the ones that seem dejected by my actions, are you going to not come around or post less now because you don't like my decision?
I am not going to change my habits the slightest. I'll be the third to last poster here (Coelacanth will be the second to last one with a non-RC relevant post, or maybe some allusion to one of his colorful (ahem) builds, and Scr8p will put the key under the door  )

You're in for a the long haul

My lack of posting isn't due to lack of interest in the site. I feel it's more of I don't have much to contribute. My knowledge is far limited to most about many of the models on here compared to many of you. I try to check out nearly every new thread as they are created. And I enjoy many of the builds and enjoy reading the post from your alls "family" you have built here. I don't want to be the guy that just says, "cool build" over and over. So I say it to myself quietly, and laugh at the odd funny conversations.

I don't have social media or frequent many other forums so I enjoy reading your Chevette progress. I don't think many are interested in my 1:1 progress but it's there if someone wants to read it. I look at it more of a timeline and look back on what I've done.
