Reluctantly bought a rc10 gt

Ok , haven't been here in 3years to the month. Just sold a SCX10 and wasn't looking to get into anything else. But after seeing a nice construction site yesterday I got a hankering to build a nitro car. I scored a blue chassis GT on eBay without motor and wheels. I'm gonna completely rebuilt it . Anyone have any tips? It looks to have FT shocks but looks like it was a RTR. What parts are compatible with the electric or newer models? I'm trying to find CVD's without much success . Thanks in advance.

Most modern stuff won't fit the old style GT. Mainly the parts like bulkhead, shock towers, transmission, etc. Associated still carries a lot of parts for them, and ebay is a good source also. Any CVD set for RC10T, T2, T3 will work on that style GT. T4, T5, GT2 won't fit due to longer lengths. You can convert to 12mm hex front and back to make wheel selection easier. Just need T4 hubs and steering blocks along with the axles and bearings to go with them. Good to see another GT coming back to life.

yes, all you need to do is add the hex adaptor over the stock axles.

Will the blue turnbuckles also work from those trucks you mentioned?

Quick question on the hex conversion, am I getting front end parts from the T4.2? I looked at online manual for T4 and it doesn't use hexes. Thanks

nice. Trinity tranny brace, MIP boost bottle, Robinson Racing steel spur, aluminum nose tube mounts. good platform to start with...

I thought its was all cheesy aluminum stuff. I actually ordered all the factory stuff. Is all that trinity stuff? Has aluminum servo mounts, tranny case , and trans mount. I did recognize the Robinson spur but there is also a brake attached to it that had a strap around it. Anyone know who made it?

your lucky I didn't see that one then if it was on ebay

.
The drum brake should be a Crescenzi Racing brake setup. I only did a quick look but yeah, alot of the alloy for the gt's are cheesy but that looks to be a trinity tranny brace. The brake assy is nice and gave the gt some stopping power vs. the original stuff.
