Associated RC300 1/8 scale project

Some time gone since building a car but some guys may remember my other projects which usually start with just a few parts. This time it´s a Associated RC300 1/8 scale car, I think my second gas car here after the Delta CK760 which still waits for shoes.
I started collecting NOS parts for this project maybe 5 years ago. We will see if the build goes through or if there are parts missing as with my RC1, RC100 and RC200 projects.

Thanks for your interest! It´s always good to see those guys who are into early 1/8 scale cars.
BTW everybody is invited to post comments.

The bags shown before are for the main parts. Additional hardware as bolts, nuts and washers are needed, ball bearings for the rear axle, body posts etc. As with all of my projects I try to use correct hardware if possible.
Building of the RC300 starts now. This will be for an original 1979 car, not the newer BD or Expert version. Such car will be built later.
First step will be removing the bags and my usual cleaning process for all parts. When unpacking metal parts for the Associated 1/8 scale cars, I found they still are covered with oil from manufacturing process.
I don´t polish parts because I prefere a natural look, not a newer than new. But a good cleaning really makes a difference, parts could be shiny but not too shiny.

My only 1/8 scale...and not much of it either. The chances of ever finding the rest of a Thorp Star are pretty slim!
I love that 300! It takes me back to the 250 club racer days. I had a Irvine .21 and a Mini Muff’L-Aire on it, which didn’t do a thing to quieten it. What a blast that car was.

Very interesting car! I personally try to build and complete my Thorp car since more than 5 years but it´s not a Star. Any Thorp car is a really difficult project.
Thanks for your comment on the RC300. Sometimes it doesn´t need a very complicated design to look cool. Actually this RC300 looks like a big brother to the RC12 electric to me. Maybe that´s why I like this car.
It´s interesting you mention the Irvine 21 engine. This is very rare engine today, at least the early pre ABC version. I got a tuned version with black anodized crank case in one of my 1/8 scale cars.
