Just picked my first RC10 And I’m setting up the brushed motor. I hope this is the right place to ask for help. What are these two resister like fittings for? Do I need them? If I do where do I put them? 30 minutes watching YouTube videos, went to a couple websites and I just can’t find the answer. It’s been about 20 years since I setup a motor.

Those are noise capacitors. One side soldered to motor lead and the other side to the case. Depending on which esc you use, you might want to run a schottkey diode

So I should look at my ESC setup manual to see if I need them?

I'm going to google a schottkey diode.

Schottkey diodes should only be used with a forward only ESC, You will pop the diode if you use reverse (or hook the diode up backwards)

Noise capacitors may or may not need to be used but It's a good idea to run them. If you had AM/FM radios they reduced the noise produced from the motor which reduced interference, they also helped keep your TV and Radio in the house from picking up the electronic noise produced by the motor.

These days not so important with 2.4ghz, but still a good idea to install.

Yes, my ESC has reverse, I'm not a very good driver so I need backup often.

I can’t figure out how to solder them to the case of the motor. There is no hole or tab and the Solder won’t stick to the metal. I’m using Rosin core solder. The plastic has two notches but nothing to bite too.

Normally there is a solder tab and a screw there for most motors.

You'll likely have to sand a little bit of the plating off the motor can with a dremel or a file.

Honestly, if you're running with modern 2.4ghz radio gear, I wouldn't run the capacitors. 2.4ghz is unlikely to pick up interference from the motor, and it just looks nicer without them.

You are missing a screw and eyelet on the first pic in that empty hole... Ring is probably not fixed right. This is where you'd solder the caps btw.
