I have a rc10 and an rc10T from when i was a kid. I have apare parts n wheels for both, but more for the 10T... I want to keep one of them for nolstagia purposes. My question is which one should i keep? I used to race the 10T so i do slightly lean toward keeping that, but ultimately parts availability is a huge factor. I want to be able to replace things if i need to.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I need a new radio for the rc10...the old Futabas battery pack is all jacked. Can I just buy a modern radio? I’m also afraid the tranny and differential would go to junk quickly after so many years...maybe I take a pic n someone could give me an estimate of the cost to get the rc10 in condition to drive around again?

Can I just buy modern electronics that are sealed n water resistant? Basically I want something I can drive w my son who has a traxxas slash.

Also if I keep both which one would I find parts for easier? I’d prolly take whichever had more parts available n make it my go to driver.

You can definitely get a new radio, do a little bit of searching there are a bunch of radios out there that are 2.4ghz and work great.

Honestly, if your rc10 has a 3 gear transmission, almost all.of the parts between the truck and buggy are very similar and both can be repaired with lots of parts available still. Some are tough but your standard 'breakable' parts should be relatively easy to get.

Not much has really changed since the rc10t that would be drastically different wrt to radio gear. Lipo and brushless motors are a huge change but I suspect you might have some experience with your son's truck.

Any way to just replace the old transmission w something newer? Check out my speed control, I think it’s for stock motors..what’s a decent brushed motor I could use w this? Is my tranny stealth?

No need to change anything. The trans is a stealth design and is pretty much the same as anything newer from associated. It can handle a good amount of power.

Your particular car however looking at the picture has been modified for rpm 'worlds' arms. They are no longer available, but you can find replacements but they won't look the same.

keep them both and update as you can. You will never be able to replace the nostalgia and they certainly aren't going to get to much cheaper in the future. Parts are plentiful for both. Sometimes its just as easy to buy a lot and be done with it by picking up a bunch of stuff that you might need.

As far as running with your son an his slash pick up another slash or the slash knockoff that is out there for around $150 or so and upgrade the electronics as they fail. Pretty cheap fun if you are serious about running with your kid

Can I run it now or should it be rebuilt first? Any decent motor you would recommend for it?

Yes, I would replace the rear axles on this car, you can still use them as is but your suspension is probably not working as it should. This should do:

Can I replace w these parts? Should I make the changeover? I do have quite a few tires and rims for the car.
