How about a Kyosho Cactus? It doesn't have the pinion + spur arrangement you described, but it does have the other features and a very odd gearbox :D . The grooved tires front and rear were stock.

If I remeber well it is a 1/12th model which explains why it is not commonly known. There's also a truck version. I discovered this when I lived in Japan and was torn over the question to buy or don't buy a nip truck that was on a local hobby shop shelf for months... I didn't as there was no competion I could use it in being 1/12
