Those are some really great upgrades, Siang.
It's good to know that some of these cars are actually being ran and not just sitting on a shelf in a display case. Nice!! :D

Okay, now you're just showing off.
What a sweet collection!
You should post here more often.
I love messing with these little cars too. I was away from the hobby for 20+ years and I really missed a lot. I'm very happy to be back. :D

Foxy shocktower on that Beetle 8)
Why the cushions in the outdrives, did You wear them out or is it just a precaution?

Nice mods, but I don't think that blue Yeah Racing cooling fan on your Optima will do anything to cool the motor, because the aluminum motor guard isn't a heatsink...it doesn't even make contact with the motor, it's only for protection from a rear-end crash. If cooling is an issue, you could remove the motor guard and install one of many kinds of heatsink that snap onto the motor directly and will actually dissipate the motor heat. Add a fan for additional cooling. Just pointing it out in case you're concerned about overheating--that fan won't be too effective. 8)

Wrong guess, i made it out of 3.5mm alluminium sheet. The cushion at out drive taken idea from tamiya. Modified the cup holder for tamiya cushion, just thought may smoothen the power transfer from nows day brushless motor......

Really nice fabrication work on the Beetle shocktower, Siang.
I think Dennis meant foxy.
Very observant btw. I didn't notice the resemblance before. :D

Unless Siang drilled/removed metal from the top part of the motor guard to create airflow, that is :)

I am clueless in Kyosho re-res, and I haven't rebuilt my (original) Javelin for 10 years now so what do I remember anyway, but your stuff looks good!

Actually, there is an aluminum bar that bridges the left trans plate and right motor plate and is a mounting point for the motor guard. I think this will pull some heat away from the motor. I haven't looked into it but the ali bar might be unique to the re-release. Perhaps the original version's motor guard was fully isolated from the motor plate - not sure.

Yes, i do trim some material off the motor guard, for the fan to sit flush and increase air flow as well, and need to re tap the hole to for 3mm screw, original hole for 2.6mm screw.
