Nikko Dictator 3: double the fun

hello,

i had this nikko dictator sitting in a box for a while, and started restoring it to its former glory!
i like strange rc cars and with the dual motor set-up this old nikko has, it fits right into my collection and interests!
i watched clips of brushless 4s dictators, (COOL!) but since my gearbox is cracked i stick with the original 380 motors.

i also bought a nikko bosscat/dominator car to act as a donor car for parts and spare parts,
unfortunately the parts i needed were broken on that car.

the rusty donor car:

the front gearbox screwholes, are prone to breaking and cracking on these cars....
at least i have some extra spares such as arms and gears :D

cleaned up the chassis, bosscat/dominator body in the background:

lots of soldering to make the double motors work, standard tamiya esc, nimh battery and flysky receiver

installed everything in the plastic tub, IT WORKS!!
the shocks are old schumacher storm 2000s

painted the rims white, glued the tires, first test drive in the garden

primed the body, and now started on wet sanding everything down

i removed some plastic in the middle of the wing, to make it look less like a toy. (still needs some work)

i hope you liked this project and i will keep you updated!
the body will be white with purple!

The rear tires being mounted backwards messes with my OCD.

Tamiya makes some hotter 380’s if you want to step up a little but not kill it ;-) This is my Dictator (not much Dictator left haha)

i will keep that tamiya motors in mind! will ineed motor mounting plates?

i have a small update on the dictator, my goal is to paint it purple/white.
the body is made of abs plastic, and i dont have much experience with this kind of bodies.
so i made a little practice project out of an old abs wing, i painted it purple than masked of everything that needed to stay purple
and sprayed white over all the purple/masked areas.

as you can see on the below pictures, some of it worked and on one part the purple came of with the masking tape:

i didnt prime or sand this practice piece of abs, and i let the purple paint dry 2 days (maybe to quick)
(so maybe i can get some better adhesion)

im looking for some tips to prevent the purple coming off,
any abs painting pro's around here??

The taniya motors bolt right up with stock gearing, however I decided to make up some adjustable plates

I know this is an old thread but just wanted to say "nice work". I have a few Nikko Dictators and Nikko F10 Thunderbolts \ F10 Rhinos.
