Well I picked up another one...LOL. Im going to try and build this one with my kids. Its an A stamp that was painted and has some worlds parts on it? I have an exact plan for this one in mind. It will be a car, but not buggy body. All the parts will get cleaned, the tub cleaned up somehow, with brushed power, the six gear and then driven by my kids. Not planning on hop ups or model updates. I have no idea how Im going to get the battery mount separated from the tub...though I have no idea on how to rebuild the six gear either. I really want a taller ride height on this one if I can. My oldest loves to do donuts with my team car, so this will be a build for her to terrorize the baseball field and parking lot.

I tore down most of the car and other than a mangled rear bulkhead, its in pretty good shape. Ill replace the shocktowers too. Still had the felt gaskets too. Big question is what to do with the aluminum tub finish....

Get the tub in some paint thinner or acetone and see what's hiding underneath.

Okay, this is where I post this totally useless comment.
Happiness is having an old RC10 to restore.

So, what's happened to the rear bulkhead. Did they just mill-off the battery cup or....

The ears for the wing mount are cut off and the battery cup is completely cut off.

Oh, okay. I hate to admit it but I've butchered a few bulkheads bitd.
What do you have in mind for a body -- or are you saving that for the big reveal?

Going to make sure it fits before I reveal it. This car and parts are in better shape than I expected. So I won't be doing any crazy modifications to fit a body. Might try to find kidney wheels to match.

Been busy cleaning parts, and tidying up the wiring on my RC10T build.

So the tub is sitting in a bath to remove the paint. Im looking for suggestions on a new finish. The tub had no anodizing under the paint.

Here are the rest of parts cleaned and re-dyed/dyed to match the others. All the original parts had already been dyed once.


Im starting to put them all back together. I would love to find some more blue hardware to fill in some of the missing parts.

The screw in rear arm hinge pins are pretty neat.

So do you think a previous owner stripped the anno completely or had the anno just been worn off the bottom? If it's only missing from the bottom, I guess I would just leave it since the car's gonna be a runner for the kidos. It's a shame because the anno on the front nose plate appears too be intact. By chance do you have a replacement nose plate that matches and would be better suited for a runner?

No anno anywhere on the tub that I could find. I'm pretty sure the nose plate is a re-re as is the motor plate. Several of the parts are new from what I can tell. The steering had one bearing and three bushings... lol

Hmmm. Well, I guess if it were mine, I'd probably go and rummage through my box of rattle can paint and find something that looks good with the other gold anno parts. A runner's tub is gonna get beat up if it's not covered. If you send the tub out for re-anno, it probably won't match the other parts anyway. I'm guessing that would be the most expensive option with rattle can paint being the cheapest.

Sadly I'm too picky to rattle can it... That said, I've got different type of paint ordered I'm going to give a shot. I wish there was an anodizer here in town, and I'm not a fan of how thick powder coat is. We will see how it goes. I'm likely to put some chassis film on it anyway.

Now I need some interesting wheels for the build. The normal solid wheels aren't going to cut it. I can't afford tennacraft wheels for this build, or that would be my choice. Some all terrain tires too.

JC Racing (from the UK) might be an option for you. They are availabe in White, Black, and Yellow. Shown with Pro-Line Dirt Hawg tires.

Those are awesome, sadly, my axles have been updated at some point. Both are 3/16"... So Im not sure those will work.

What tires are those?
