Original Rc10 Question

Hi, it's been 30 years since I last drove my RC10. Recently my son got into RC and helping him learn has reminded me how much I love the hobby so I broke my old car out of the garage and want to get it running again. Any advice on what motor battery setup I can run safely with my old Novak 4? I'm in the process of cleaning everything up, adding new oil to the shocks, and greasing the gears. Want to rerun new wires as well. Any advice for plugs? Should I stick with the old Tamiya I have or upgrade to something different? Pics are of what I am starting with.

Hello and welcome to rc10talk. :D

Lovely looking car, a few bits of advice: Old speed controls always seem to work, nevertheless I would not go to crazy with motors nothing over a 27 stock motor for prolonged running.
Your best bet for wheels and tires is to g for JC racing wheels which work with original cars and modern 2.2" tyres http://www.jcracingproducts.co.uk/wheels/rc10 They are in the United Kingdom but most Americans seem to be happy with their shipping prices. IMHO any kind of axle conversion is pointless and expensive.
As far as the transmission goes The gears do not require any grease, all that will need to be done is clean the differential and apply silicon grease to the balls.
Have fun buddy.
