Heya Folks,

As the title states, I'm trying to find a vintage esc that will handle a 8 turn brushed motor, that can also handle 2 cell LiPos.

I know someone out there wants to just say "Go Brushless."
But I'd prefer not to, I'm trying to build a semi-period correct (~1991 or 92) RC10 runner, the only bits that will be modern on the car are the motor and battery, everything else vintage.

Edit: I wouldn't be running the car for long periods either, small bashing sessions and 5 minute mains and 8 minute qualifiers is all it needs to handle.

One concern that comes to mind is, when running LiPo batteries, a low-voltage cut-off (or alarm) is very important. Over-discharging a LiPo can be rather explosive. I don't know if low-voltage cut-off is a feature found in most vintage ESCs, because with NiCad & NiMH batteries, you ran them until they were completely dead. Try that with a LiPo and it'll be bad news for your car.

I would also recommend that you look into the very last esc's for brushed motors before the turn to brushless. maybe LRP or similar. I'm not sure what esc would easily handle 8 minute racing with an 8T and lipo. while they might be 'new' they would still be vintage and not turn into smoke and ash.

I have a few LVC beeper things laying around, so that should be fine.

As for heat and such, I have a friend with a lathe, that could make some brush heat sinks, which I could then mount a fan to.

I've been looking at Newer Tekins and LRP, and a few Novak. For the rest of the electronic set up I have a Futaba FP-S28 servo, and most likely I will get a Futaba Magnum of some sorts.

I'm thinking LRP F1 Pro Reverse, No turn limit, Reverse Disable, said to handle twin motors just fine and run cool, all for an ESC I can get for ~$30 on the 'Bay.
