I thought it was a Hornet

Recently bought a "hornet". At least that's what my untrained eye thought it was. Now, not so sure.
It has the wrong bumper, wrong rear shocks, a rear suspension third shock, chrome wheels and inside the battery compartment it says "Made in Korea" .
The body appears different than a hornet. Receiver , servos and radio are Futaba.
I'm guessing it's a clone of some sort but beyond that I'm lost. Any help figuring this out for me would be greatly appreciated.

Looks to me like a Minicraft Lazer based on the speed control, sway bar, shocks, body and bumper

Thanks Jeff!

I think you nailed it. I looked and looked and could not find a similar car.
The front wheels are identical to the ones on the box although the front tires ( 2" ??? ) are hard as a rock.
The rears were apparently replaced with Bolink foams.
The resistor pack ( 3 wire type ) has been replaced with 2 sandstones so I'll have to look into that if I keep the MSC.

Yeah yours has had some rewiring. Those speed controls aren’t the hardest thing to find, but the original rear wheels will be :(

So did the ebay seller represent the car as a Hornet? If so then you should be able to return it and receive a refund. You probably already know this but if an item has been misrepresented, ebay also requires seller to cover return shipping costs. When this happens to me, I send it back.

Not eBay, the listings are never correct on the secret site  they simply list as whatever they see in writing. This was was listed as a Kyosho likely because of the servo lol

Doug
It wasn't an Ebay auction. It was listed as Kyosho. I guess there was an element of truth because the radio and peripherals were Kyosho.
I'll clean it up, maybe paint the body, try and get it running then who knows? The fun for me is breathing life back into a neglected car.

I don’t share it with anyone either. I’ve found some nice items, and taken some risks that didn’t pan out.

Don't forget you can also look for the same or similar buggies listed as Academy Rockbuster, World Engines Rockbuster, or even Academy Road Runner / Road Runner II, if you're looking for spare parts... or, just go back to the Tamiya models they're based on. You're not likely to increase the resale value by keeping it all one brand... and Hornet / Grasshopper parts are plentiful and cheap. You've got the black bumper, that seems to be slightly rarer in the wild... I would just clean it up, and either make a (basic fun) runner out of it, or move it on.

Of course, it's your car, so it's totally up to you... and that unpainted body is probably rarer than the rest of the car....

As for Jeff seeing all, well.... probably about right!

Sorry Chuck, my error. I recall you mentioning buying stuff from ebay before so I just assumed that's where this car came from.
