I watched this car on CL for a few months and was able to grab it a few weeks ago. The guy built it and drove it around his yard a few times. Tub is still perfect.

This will be my new dirt car. Tore it all down and started doing a few chassis mods, starting with the tub. First was to bend up the rear kick-up a little and drill and tap new mounting holes in the motor plate.

Image

Then it was time to do something with the motor plate. I decided to open up the area between the 2 holes. This mimics the slots in the rear of the chassis. I also took a wedge piece out of the left side to lose the "block" look. I also rounded off the corners of the tub.

Image

I did the same thing to the corners of the nose plate. Rounded them off more.

Image

Then it was on to the rear bulkhead. Removed the unneeded camber holes. The battery box was cut out for stick pack battery wires.... and not very nicely. So i had to clean that up.

That's about it for now. :)

Very nice chassis work. Looks very clean. Why do you lift the rear of the chassis? More ground clearance or something?

Thanks.

Yeah, more clearance. I guess there were a few jumps at the '93 worlds that would upset the cars during landing. So Roger or Cliff went around and bent everyone's chassis up to help with that. Could have been the reason for the bend in the b2/b3/t3 rear chassis plate.

Little update on this. Haven't had much r/c time lately, but here's where this one is at. Part re-ano'd in copper and threw some parts back on it, including my last set of Flashback R/C iridium towers. Still have to rebuild the diff and the shocks. Make up the new turnbuckles..... and some other things.

You cut out the battery holder for stick pack wires but the finished car has a block of foam and bullet connectors on the esc. Do you plan to run this and use a shorty Lipo?

Sweet project BTW

The box was cut out when i got it. The guy I bought it from used a stick pack the one and only time he drove it. I trimmed it up more to make it look better.

Got it. I misunderstood when I first read it. It's turned out great.
