I'm making aluminum Sand Scorcher race chassis for Team CRP, and was told that I don't need to drill the 4 holes near the side edges of the rear. Neither of us knows what those holes are for, and I'm hesitant to leave them out science they are in the original chassis. Does anyone know what these holes are for?

I think the model you are copying is not unmodified and might have had the MIP IRS 200 trailing arm kit fitted....

Pics will make this easier to determine...

Oh I thought you'd have been recreating the wide CRP chassis not a version of the original when you mentioned a race chassis...

Hmm. I am not sure, I have never found a use for those holes on the many SRB's I have had...

If you leave them in it's more faithful to an original chassis and lighter I guess...

Those holes aren't used at all on any of the models, even the Super Champ, although that one has a few more holes in it elsewhere.

You could add them for authenticity, but if you are going for authentic the chassis should be made of fibreglass.

some people used those hole to bolt aluminum angle stock to the sides to stiffen up the chassis.

Well if I could get the 2mm thick fiberglass - the right color here in America, I might do that. I have made the butterfly chassis for Team CRP, and he is selling them in his web site

Well I guess I don't need them then because all the SS aluminum race chassis that I made already have the sides as part of the chassis design.
