TRX-3 wheels

Wonder if anyone has experience of changing the rear wheels on a TRX-3 (or TRX-1) to hex fit please.
With a 5mm axle and pin fitment as standard at the back I guess a hex could be added to mount modern wheels - but any idea if the modern offset would work?
Front wheels should be easier as long as the bearing is a 5mm inner - but again still not sure of the offset.
Had a search and couldn't find anything so any help much appreciated.

Hi K Rob,

For the front you could convert to Bandit or Slash Hub and spindle carriers, those are a direct fit. If you want to stay bearings in the wheel it’s pretty much Tamiya and Carson (only Germany?) wheels. For the rear there are different width hexes out there to adapt for different offsets.

SLASH PARTS

Otherwise Jc Racing UK has really nice wheels, but non metric, so you’d need at least a standard AE or Losi Steering knuckle.

I hope I could help

Tony

Hi Chewie,
Thanks for that. Will look into those.
Trying to keep it bearing at the front as I don't really want to change the axles but may have to consider it.
Got a TCP on the way so will try a few things when I get it.
For some reason I have it my head that I fitted hexes to a TRX-1 I had a few years ago - but my vintage addled brain can't remember

Since I have a mix of different cars, and I only converted one to spindles in the front I am actually planning on converting Hex Wheels to bearings.

Will post a thread when that project starts.

Look forward to the build.

Found the hexes I used. 6mm and drilled out for the axle.
They give roughly the same offset with a modern wheel as the original wheels gave.

I used a set of LS2/SRT rear hexes on my TRX1 and AE/Losi style rear wheels, no issues. For the front, I was able to get a hold on some Team C (not sure what the UK brand name is) front carriers/knuckles for hex. Fit right into the arms like they were made for them. Worked on bump steer a touch with some shims and boom. 12mm hex all around on my TRX1, using AE wheels front/rear (I also run a B6, so I had plenty to go around).

The alloy knuckles are the ones I used.
