Changed to these ceramic bearings on the 240sb. Getn 27400rpm now and much smoother at low rpm

Just read though the thread, very nice work and collection coxbros1. I've recently been picking up old motors to restore. Have ten motors thus far, nothing special, just some that I remember liking as a kid in the late 80's/early 90's. Various Trinity Speed Gems (couple NIB Speed Gem Pros), Le Mans 480Gold, couple different Mega motors (orange 12x2 and a pink 22x1 outlaw), and a Reedy Mr. H 12x3.
Now I need to start ordering new brushes, springs, decals, etc so I can restore them. MCI has some decals I need, but is that Ultrahives business still going (first time I've heard of them)? I'd like to check them out to see what they have to offer but I don't seem to be able to find a website and whatnot. Also, where's a good place to get new brushes & springs, and which kind do you prefer for replacements in your motors (soft, med, hard)? All the motors I have use stand-up brushes, except for the two SG Pros which use P-94.

That is sweet. And I just so happen to have a whole bunch of 1x6 oak boards I'm using as casing for the new home windows I just installed. Now I know what I'll be doing with one of those scrap pieces

Nice selection of motors! holy grail being the 480gold, lol....as far as Ultrahive his motor decals are amazing buy good luck ever contacting him....even if u do find a contact info, its likely he will never reply. As far as brushes i just get whatever i can on ebay...mine are all standup too...and i try and get the ones with the eyelets

10-4, I'll check ebay out, thanks. Might be a dumb question, but what are eyelets? Now I'm still quite new to the RC game so please excuse my empty brain cells. I haven't touched a brushed motor in over 25 yrs... lol

they are just the round holes at the end of the brush wire that u mount it with the screws...vs. the kind u solder on

Thanks Derek. Alright took your advice, very thankfully might I add, and did some ebay recon over the weekend. Scored a couple dozen stand up serrated brushes with eyelets, a variety of light/medium/heavy/extra heavy springs, fine/medium/course commutator sticks, and the icing on the cake, 4 Kyosho Le Mans 240ST motors (all need some TLC) and a nice condition Trinity Speed Gems Quartz 19x2 motor.

Just a fyi, because of the popularity of brushed motors in crawlers, replacement brushes and springs are still available from several manufacturers. Reedy, Tekin, Tamiya, Holmes, and several others.

Unless you are looking for a particular type brush, there isn't really a need to watch ebay.

Agreed, I rarely use ebay and always shop around elsewhere. But I settled on the new Trinity springs and brushes I found there. Got the comm sticks and Quartz motor from the same seller. Actually, I think this is the first time I've ever bought something new on ebay.

Well its official people...just tested me and "the diamond one"s recent Salute build with a 240s that came in the RC10 we recently restored....anyway the motor was rebuilt (comm, brushes, bearings) the usual stuff....put it in the Salute, freakin thing ripped! But a 360PT (holy grail) was destined for the car but wondered if it would keep up with 240s....before that was put in wanted to test the 240SB and 240Spa from my collection in above posts. Both rebuilt just like the 240s, neither came close to the torque or speed of the 240s. So I pulled the 240s from my collection above to see if the other one was a fluke....freaking thing ripped! So now for the 360PT (geared 4 teeth higher cause it turns less rpm than the 240s). The car has Thorp 48p overdrive gears on it. Freakin thing ripped! I was very shocked....had balls for days too. Bottom line is the although the 360PT is a "holy grail" motor and one of my all time favorites, those Lemans 240S are pretty much the best back in the day and now!

UPDATE: tested most of my Lemans motors in the Salute today....the 480Gold and 480Spa were as strong as the 240s! We were shocked...480gold new all time favorite! (for now). 480S and 480T ran strong too...timing all set to 6 degrees advance on the 480's.
360Gold was the strongest but not by much....they all smoked the 240Spa and 240SB

How do you do the testing between them? Top speed, accel, etc?
