Optima mid freebie project

Hi everyone,
Thanks fur adding me, not done anything rc related since my tamiya TA01 and Schumacher sst back as a teen/twenty something..
I recently replied to an ad for some old rc cars in need of repair... I now own an optima mid in tired but functional condition, and an AYK Radiant chassis that is probably beyond saving unless you have a lot of AYK spares laying around..
So been away from the hobby for years but now keen to get the optima mid up and running. Already ordered a few NOS parts and a full set of new screws and bearings to start the mids rejuvenation 👍😁

Welcome to the site! The mid looks nice. With a little work, she'll be back to running in no time.

There is a member here who has a lot of AYK pro radiant parts, so don't give up on her either.

Welcome! Great way to get back in the hobby. There are plenty of vintage Kyosho fans around here including myself. That mid looks very restorable. There are still enough parts out there to make restoring these managable. Shoud be alot of fun. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

@Stevemax yeah I think it would run as it is, just a bit wobbly and slowly as its missing a lot of screws and the bearings no longer spin... I'm finding lots of parts already, replacement shocks seem more elusive though. I've got an idea fur that though...

I think the AYK is a no go from me, I just don't have the time and money fur another project(also have an old subaru impreza that I'm rebuilding the engine)
I'm trying to sell or swap it for kyosho parts 👍

@basher67 yeah this site gets a lot of recommendations on the net from other places as the spot for vintage rc knowledge! I'm enjoying the stripping and cleaning already can't wait to start bolting out back together with some clean and new parts! I'll get some more pics up today of the strip down so far..
