I bought a stealth transmission on ebay, it's obviously parted from some World's kit that were being blown out for $200 years back.
Anyway, tit's not the same as the original Stealth. after assembling it I find the slipper hub can run against the motor case (the whole spur gear assembly can get too close to the motor plate)
Before DIY'ing my own solution - anyone else have this problem? What's the deal?

I did find one other thread on this and some other references but no solutions. Guys have to be doing something?

The flat spots were milled down too far on a ton of top shafts. Most people would just get a replacement 9601 top shaft. They're discontinued now and are getting to be expensive. Better off drilling out the hole in the right case and making a spacer to go between the bearing and inner slipper hub.

ok thanks for the concise answer.
Freaking annoying. Only after building one, finding the problem, and then searching did I find it's pretty much freaking annoying to every RC10 rere person on the planet. lol. (I was planning on using it on an original car... now I'm more inclined to buy an original for that car).

yeah, there were a few issues with the Worlds re-release. That being one of them.

Is there a way to eyeball a wonky shaft if you are shopping around and it isn't NIP?

Not without measuring it.
