Aftershock clutch issues

So I repacked the clutch with Hot Racing Losi Aftershock LST Aluminum Bi Directional Clutch LST1100XH08
Now I can not get the idle low enough to stop the wheels from spinning. It seems like it needs stiffer clutch springs. I can toss the truck and it will run perfect but if I try to completely stop the truck in place on the ground it stalls the engine.

That's the typical symptom of a broken clutch spring, siezed clutch bearing or a clutch that is shimmed too tight/wrong. It should have some end float when installed properly and should be completely free spinning.

Which way do you have the shoes? Got a pic of the clutch set up?

Trailing edge engagement is less aggressive then leading edge engagement.

Edit, I see that it is a sliding clutch.....

I reinstalled a spare stock clutch with the three shoes. I was hopeful of the bidirectional but now disappointed. I will stock up stock parts.
I hope this fixes it. I have yet to run a full tank without an axle coming loose or a clutch problem. When it runs it is awesome and that is why I do it.

How much of the spring is broken? Normally they break at the loop where the two ends come together, quite often you can bend/flatten out another loop from the spring and reconnect it.

It did break right at the loop. I will try to flatten and make another loop. I reinstalled a spare stock set for now. It runs perfect. Now if only I could find a set of clutch shoes for my MGT 8.0 and all my trucks would be up and running. Thanks for the advice. I will try to flatten the spring out and see if I can use it. Parts for the Losi are hard to come by and both the Losi and associated look like new so I keep throwing parts that I can find to keep them running. They are great trucks even compared to modern trucks.
Thanks again,
