Hi guys and gals,

Been away from here and the hobby for quite some time, mainly due to a huge move to a new house and the Photobucket buggers totally discouraged me to restore all the picture inputs I had made on this fantastic forum.

Now thanks to the F’@&) COVID-19 crap, I finally managed to build myself a nice and cosy man cave. I’ve been willing to do so for 20 years!

So all parts boxes have been gone through, sorted, arranged, boxed and I even installed a peg board to showcase some of my new in bag stuff.

I’m now working on a Graphite runner and I plan to go back through a series of old RC10 builds that need some love after being in storage for years. I started with this TEKIN chassis conversion with active rear link. I’m now adding a Schumacher Active Caster System that compliments nicely the rear active link.

Getting there slowly on the front end.
I replaced the white stock bulkhead with a one piece RPM one. Added a MIP zero maintenance bellcranks and replaced the former clear fibreglass shock tower with a black died one.

Thats how I wanted to do mine. Those Schumacher kits were not the easiest to find at the time though.

Yeah, been hunting long time to find this set. And the nose plate there is one I bought from you!

Made some progress on the rear end today and finally got this damn rack to work by using spacers, longer screws, etc. It now works butter smooth although it feels very fragile.

I then swapped the white stealth tranny that was in there with a black one. I adapted a gear cover and used some cloth with a sticky side to better seal it.

Next steps are adding sway bars. I will also try to put a mono shock system in the front. Might look cool.

Almost a roller now. Let’s get onto shocks! I’m tempted to use used Kyosho golds, it was wearing black Yokomo ones before with white plastic cups and spacers. Decisions decisions

Cher David,

Looks fantastic... this conversion is legendary... and quite not the shizznit on the track bitd iirc

That yokomo on the motor plate is superb! Option House's would look great on this car indeed, with Tecna's for instance. Will you also replace the blue countersunk washers with bronze-orange-ish ones that match the rest of the car's colors? :?:

Thanks for sharing those quality pics as usual!

Thank you Paul. And yes the whole chassis conversion is just interesting as nothing really compares to it. The front Schumacher SACS system was also a failure in a way but it goes well with the TEKIN chassis.

Actually Tekin themselves included blue anodised nuts and I went a bit ahead and included more blue touches. It would Indeed look better with only gold details. I’m running out of a lot of hardware and need to make a massive order of screws, shims, spacers and ball cups.

Very cool looking build, indeed! I'm really liking your motor choice, too! Its one of my favorites from BITD.

Ok so Kyosho gold shocks went out really nice after a good maintenance. They are still butter smooth after all these years.
No oil yet in them, but I’m tempted to do so. Usually I don’t store my cars with oil in the shocks, just some green slime in the cartridge.

I finally found a good use for those Yokomo Hot Laps Wheels and mounted them with rear lightened Hot Trick adapters and Yokomo ones for the front.

Wing is for presentation only, I’m debating not using the stock wing tubes and replace them with bullet style wing mounts.

Also added a servo to see how it feels.
Moving the chassis left and right is really interesting to watch as all four wheels do stay almost perfectly perpendicular to the ground.

More progress soon, stay tuned!

😎 would you remember the specs of that black and gold beaut?
It wears a white dot label with 901 written on it.
Has a Trinity end bell.

Today I digged out all the Tekin ESCs I had. It was a no brainer to go with the bulky black and gold one. It needs some love to look good, nothing major though.
