RC Off Road Track on City Land/Park

I am wondering if anyone has had any luck or any information / draft proposals on building an off road RC track on city land. Back when we were kids, we just did and no one ever cared but those days are long gone. They city I live in allowed a bike club to build decent size BMX and mountain bikes skills tracks in part of a park. They are modified and maintained by local volunteers and it is sponsored by local bike shops and companies. There is a bike only rule that people are quick to call others out on and some will even call the cops. There are no dirt off road RC tracks anywhere near me and seeing the amount of space the bike tracks took up I am sure the city could spare some land for a modest RC track.

I guess I am looking for any ideas, previously drafted proposals, general information or experience in presenting the idea to a city. I know I will have to get a petition together and could probably get the local hobby shop to help with that although it would compete with their indoor carpet track. Their track is changed around regularly between on road and off road and I am in Minnesota so an outdoor track in only usable 9 months out of the year at best.

I think my biggest problem is going to be able to get enough people out here to want the track to justify it to the city, donate to the effort and even use it. RC just doesn't seem to be as big as it was when and where I grew up.

Thoughts?

If the city allows this, why not an RC track and stand?

thoughts on this are go for it. Get the necessary info like all the who, what, why, where and such done to see if its even worthy of bringing it up to the city in the first place.

The LHS did this kinda several times now just about their own track. Everyone seems to think its great until its time to chip in some time and effort. For this reason we went from 4 tracks down to 2 so far and the last 2 are slated to go next summer if things don't change.

Good luck with the help.

Todd

Looks like this will be a tough sell. You are right, Everyone likes the idea but nobody is willing to put in the time.

that sux but its understandable. People get tired of being the only ones to help while the others sit back and wait locally...which we are currently down to 1 track now and ahead of schedule to be down to none next summer now
