3/16 CVA stub axle wiggle

I recently picked up a vintage RC10 team car that was upgraded by prior owner to use the worlds re-re 3/16 CVD axle, with the re-re hub carrier and bearings. I noticed there was tremendous radial play (or wiggle) of the stub axle in the carrier. I could see that the stub axle to bearing fit was loose, as was the bearing to hub carrier fit. I disassembled the axle and the bearings fell out of the hub carrier they were so loose. The axle assembly looks almost new, with no obvious wear. Is this looseness typical in the worlds re-re??

My prior experience with vintage RC10s is all with the 1/4 axles, which have much less overall slop and the bearings fit tight into the hub carrier. The difference between my 1/4 axle cars and this car with 3/16 axles is drastic. Is it possible there are cheap knock-off copies of these re-re parts out there? I also swapped in a different pair of bearings that made no difference.

The re-release hubs were known to be molded wrong. Too loose as you have seen .

Thanks for that info. Is there a common fix? I was thinking about loc-tightening the bearings in place, but that sounds like delicate surgery that could become a mess.

I should also note the prior owner did not use the crush tubes, could that also add to my problem?
