Losi JRX Pro "SE" Custom

This is a very clean JRX Pro I recently found. I was surprised by how nice it was. Everything should clean up to like new condition.

I want to do something a little different with the chassis by narrowing the sides to the same width as the SE. This will allow me to use a special SE body that I really like, and be something a little different.

The chassis that came with it is too nice to cut up so I am using another donor chassis with some deep scratches. I saw another member on here sand, paint, and clear coat a Losi chassis and it turned out great. I have started the sanding process and will try my hand at painting. I hate painting! I hate it! But I am going to give it a try.

Below you can see the difference in width after I trimmed the sides to match SE chassis width. The top chassis is sitting on top of a standard Pro chassis.

This is gonna look slick, i lso like the narrow look of the se chassis.

Do you have a link to the members sanding process your talking about?

Looking forward to this build!!

^ Thanks Elf. I can't remember where I saw the post about the painted JRX chassis. It was either here, OSRC, or Vintage Losi. I am trying to find it myself. If someone else does, please link it here.

The tires and wheels were in great shape, and hardly used like the rest of the buggy. However the dirt that was present on the tires was not coming off without a fight. I boiled the tires and scrubbed them a bunch. The rims got a new black dye job as it was faded a little in spots. I let everything soak with SC1 for a day, and it looks like new.

Highlighted lettering really makes them pop!

Are you talking about Maxima SC1?

Do you soak the tires as well as the wheels?

The highlighted lettering on the black wheels looks killer!

Were the black logo wheels ever sold or were they nauturals that were dyed at some point?

Here is the current condition of the chassis. I've trimmed the sides to match the width of the SE chassis.

I've sanded and painted the chassis. It was a used chassis and I filled in the scrapes and imperfections. It is now glossy black.

I want to paint some kind of design on it before I clear coat it. I am having trouble coming up with ideas. Anyone got any ideas?

There's a vintage Team Losi sticker that has a pink pinstripe and I think a white tire or circle as the background. That would look great on the bottom of the chassis, proportionally scaled up to fit the size of the chassis.
