Searching new brushed ESC's for my old 1/10 scale FXT. Currently the truck has the stock 28 yr old Tamiya 540 brushed motor it came with when new. Two other brand new brushed motors I have to try out with it are; Reedy Radon 2 15T 3-slot 4100KV brushed 540 motor (p/n 27425) and a Dynamite 15T 540 brushed motor (p/n DYN1172). I'll be using a 2S Lipo battery when running the truck.

As far as the ESC goes, I don't know what amp rating I'll need or to not go below? I know too low of an amp rating is no good, is too high of an amp rating not a good thing also? In your opinion, are there certain brand name ESC's that you suggest staying away from and/or that are highly recommended? I'm the type of guy who would rather have something that's "more than enough" rather than something that's "just good enough or it'll do", if you know what I mean. This is literally my first rodeo sorting out modern R/C electronics, so please bare with my ignorance. I'm open to all options.

Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 brushed ESC, 60A/360A, 2-3S lipo (p/n 30120201)
Hobbywing Quicrun WP 880 Dual brushed ESC, 80A/400A, 2-4S lipo (p/n 30120301)
Reedy SC400 brushed ESC, 40A/180A, 2-3S lipo (p/n 29198)
Reedy SC550 brushed ESC, no amp specs, 2S lipo (p/n 29193)
Dynamite 60A brushed ESC, 60A/360A, 2-3S lipo, (p/n DYNS2210)
Arrma Mega 12T brushed ESC, 35A, 2S lipo (p/n ARA390068)

I got a hobby wing 1060 which doesn't give much reverse power. An unbranded 320a works much better and is a bit cheaper, £8 on eBay.
I guess they're all China made

Seems my 1060 might be an OEM version. But check out issues via Google. There's always risk of a dud arriving. I had an ESC which just had a dodgy switch and worked fine when the switch was sorted out.

Went to a local hobby yesterday which had a couple different brushed ESC's in stock. They had a Power Hobby 1060 and the Hobbywing 1080. I just went with the Hobbywing 1080 and the employee programmed it for me to use in my stadium truck (I think they're initially set up for crawlers from the factory), which the programming instructions are straight forward and very simple.

Hi, how are you getting on with the 1080, I’m considering them for my brushed buggies but I was a little put off by the crawler specs?

If they can be reprogrammed with the included programmer to be suitable for ST/buggies I’ll give one a go.

Well it's still in the box. I actually won't use it until my FXT rehab is complete. The 1080 isn't specifically a crawler ESC per se. It just has crawler settings, like drag brake, that can be adjusted or turned off completely is pretty much it. So it's perfectly fine to use in ST or buggies.
