Just in case you're like me and wonder what the inside of your home sub looks like. This is a Paradigm PS-1000. Blew a ring so I bought a repair kit. Pics are in reverse order from what I meant for them to be...

It was, 15-20 years ago.

I've got a KLH amp and sub (separates) that was $500 in the late 90's. Now, its just old. I have a $150 Sony in the living room that sounds just as good and is smaller.

My wife's computer has one that I built. It has a Pioneer 12" car audio sub and a Dayton plate amp. Down-fire box with an aero-port. This thing absolutely jams.

Yes, I have my eye on a Polk for about $120 if this isn't successful. My friend has it and it sounds great for the size and price. You get a lot more boom for your buck these days! This was more of a curiosity thing than anything to see if it actually worked. I could also just replace the entire woofer relatively inexpensively in this box if this doesn't work. I wanted to let it dry 24 hrs before testing it. we'll see here shortly.

Oh, I understand.

I still have that old KLH in the closet just because I remember how much I paid for it. And I was in college, making about $5/hr then. That was a big investment.

Two things about subs...

1. When you first add one you ask, why did I wait so long to get one? This sounds great.
2. When it quits you ask, how long before I can get an other one? This sounds like s..t.

Awesome that you fixed it!

Glad you fixed it. The older foam surround subs worked well for the times.

Today's butyl rubber construction is so much more proficient.

I own a few and one I use for general purpose is an 8" Paradigm. It hits hard for how small it is.

Playing the new AC/DC release with it, sounds good.

I remember buying a klipsch 3 speaker set for my computer many many many moons ago for about $180 and thought that was crazy. The first piece of music I played I was blown away at the clarity of each instrument in the piece, something I had not experienced before !! The sub had plenty of bass to spare.

We bought an $800 klipsch soundbar with sub for the TV and I still think my little 3 speaker computer system sounds better

Interesting though I had an old Bazooka tube in the back of my thunderbird and I loved it, deep and smooth, now I've got a Pioneer in a box and I don’t like it as much, not as deep and more punchy.
