So like many on here I have too much time on my hands, a bunch of stalled projects while I wait for the postman and a bunch of bits laying around I thought I would try to salvage into something that ‘could’ run in the future.

I am trying to not only use what I have laying around but also attempting to complete it with used parts from a variety of sources, whether that be though the bay or via trades e.g. I have a used GT body coming from the bay that was $10 that I will attempt to salvage.

I originally was shooting for an R10T but came to realize the stealth tranny is just too expensive to procure on its own and mid way though the drafting process I changed my mind and decided to try for a RC10EGT. I am going to also try and keep a rough running total on what it ended up costing me. I was a little intimidated by other part bin projects that look better than stuff I have on the shelf but wanted to see what I could accomplish with limited tools, cleaning products and rattle can spray paint so let’s get started!!

So first, a shot of the parts ‘bin’ for this project:

Going with the GT chassis, it is not perfect, a little bent, has some scrapes, hickies, is a little delaminated/discoloured but overall in usable shape.

I like the thought of using GT shock towers given their increased thickness and rigidity; the rear arm mounts are all I had laying around but we’re already cut down so there is room for the rear battery brace...bonus! Lol

Also tore the GT diff down and was mortified to find bushings throughout, question for forum members, would it be advisable to upgrade to bearings or would the brushless motor I am thinking of installing just destroy them?

Your going to want to use a short screw and shave down that right rear arm mount to clear the spur gear. Hopefully that doesn’t weeken it to the point of failure.

As for the bushings. Cleanliness is key to bronze bushings lasting.

One of my Stealth transmissions has bushings in it. I cleaned everything in the ultrasonic and greased the bushings with Abu-Garcia reel grease.

It felt a little tight at first. So I mounted a motor to the transmission and let it run through a battery pack. After that, it is nearly as smooth as one with bearings.

Clearance! Right! Uggg I think I have some mismatched GT mounts and might just swap them out. I saw this JConscepts RC10EGT and was curious about the spur/slipper setup, any idea where they took this from? T5M?

Most likely a B/T4.

Did any of those JConcepts egt kits make it out into the wild? It would be nice to see some of the builds, hopefully they did not all end up with the speculators out to make a quick buck.

30 kits were sold.

Yeah it would have been cool if they did more than 30. Anybody if jconcepts has any plans on doing wheels for 10t gt?

I don't know if wheels will be put into production.

I know they sold out, but how many got used and are not hoarded away to sell later.

I've seen a handful of them built.

Although I am away from home and wasn’t able to add any parts I bought on the bay just yet I did take a small parts lot along with me out of town and threw together the following...essentially this is as far as I will get without spending anything and next steps will involve purchases but so far finding relatively inexpensive bits has been rewarding in its own right.

Love the JConcept ideas and am going to try something on my own when it comes to the slipper assembly, more to come when I get home but shocks, dogbones and better ball cups are all on the hit list along with the steering assembly...there is also a cheap heap listed on the bay with most of what I need that I might shoot for if it says under $100.
