Purchase this trx-1 to make a runner a few years back and finally have the time to start cleaning it up to make a runner

What are your plans, and you probably already know the front bulkheads are on backwards. TRX1 owners are a small but prestigious and quietly confident bunch

That should clean up real well. It may end up being too nice to run. I'll be following along. I'm currently looking for a nice TRX-1 myself.

The previous owner was going for the Masami Worlds Stealth look

Looks like a great base to start with, I'm sure it'll be a fun runner.

You are right, we all know the TRX1 was breathing down Masami's neck at the 91 Worlds. So clearly this car was a secret factory attempt to lure Masami over to Traxxas.

A mad attempt to clearance the steering from the inboard upper link mounts. Gets pretty hairy in there. Esp. with the A&L setup.

Unlike one of those antique RC10's where the wrong spacer, ball stud, wind direction or ball end ruins everything, miles of clearance here :D

Well I planned on this being a modern runner, but after breaking the car down and cleaning and boiling the plastics, some of the parts are way to brittle. I am going to replace white suspension parts with black parts.

I never boil anything, just soak in fairly hot water.

One of the cheap, mini crock pots works well. No hot spots on the bottom either.

it takes hours to rehydrate nylon 8-10 in hot water depending on the thickness of the part , you can do it cold but then its 24 -48 hours .

Bandit rear arms are the same. You can also use Bandit/Rustler front arms, you'll need to use some spacers on the suspension shafts. Or some have actually taken a bandit front bulkhead and split it down the middle, took a potion of it out to make homemade TRX1 bulkheads with the bandit arm mount size.

Bulkhead mod, done on TRX3, same idea.

Freshing up the transmission with new internals, drag race concepts top shaft with a steel 21t gear to run the ae slipper.

Dyed the yellowing case and bulkhead black.

So there is still a modern aftermarket top shaft available for the slipper conversion aside from the STRC one! Nice nugget of info there. Thanks.

How's the fit on that top shaft? I found the STRC one to be ever-so-slightly wobbly. Even after the precision shimming effort. Didn't seem to be an end-play issue. May have been my bearings though I guess.
