The most "rare" production RC10 buggy ever... RC10GX

To the experts on this forum, what, in your opinion would you consider the most rare production (publicly available) RC10 buggy? What is your criteria?
My vote for the rarest RC10 is the 1989 RC10GX (Japanese Spec graphite, early version with pre-stealth transmission), only because the production number for this model was very low in Japan. After a five year hiatus (winning the 1985 Worlds, this was the comeback story for the RC10. And everyone loves a comeback story. It was the most expensive Associated car sold in Japan, and even sold alongside the original. The magazine is 1989 October/November after the Ifmar Worlds.
Secondly, this car won the Japanese Nationals, and was the most competitive version of the RC10, available to the public, leading to the 1989 IFMAR Worlds Victory. The evolution and modification of this specific car in Japan, at the hands of Masami, led to the 1989 success of the RC10 GX. It was a 1,2,3, victory. Now did the other two guys beside Masami, (Jay Halsey, and Cliff Lett) were they driving an RC10GX car? Anyone know?

I can’t say outside the USA, I’m not sure how many yokomo imported. In the USA I suspect the rarest may be one of the latest- the classic kit- as it’s numbers were intentionally kept low. The second rarest, possibly the b2.

I’ve definitely seen it mentioned alot that the B2 is considered rare, why is that ? Is it the B2 in general or different versions of it ? Did it not sell well or was it that the B3 was released so soon after ? Were they sold along side each other or did the B3 simply replace it ? Sorry if I’m highjacking I’ve just always wondered exactly why.

Comparatively, the B2 wasn't in production very long. In addition, they were easily converted to B3's with a kit.

Yeah it was just a short run before the b3 came along. There are others like the DS qualifier that might also be shorter runs too, but it’s hard to say since AE doesn’t release numbers.

Also not sure outside of the US, but my take on this would be some variation of these:
1. Worlds graphite kit
2. TQ10
3. B2
Mainly the short production kits and unique rare parts that separated them from all the others making them harder to replicate from parts (worlds graphite chassis, tq10 chassis/sidewinder body, and b2 arms/pre b3 updated parts).

I agree....with TQ10 the rarest of rare and a true "holy grail"

I think you'd have to lay out some kind of guidelines to this. If you're gonna take the rc10 graphite and say the Japan GX version is the rarest, well, you'd have to consider the rc10 kits that came with painted Andy's bodies. Kits that came with Novak Rooster esc's. The late graphite team cars with the Worlds shaped chassis.... and on and on.
I will say that there's no way a TQ10 is rare. They are all over the place. You could maybe say the ones with the wide track arms are more rare that the short arm cars, but that's about it. I had 4 of them at one time. If 1 guy can have that many, it's not rare. Just my opinion though....

Ah scr8p you were just in the right place, at the right time, j/k! But, you are right, I think there would have to be a separation of standard production kits and kits that were sold with aftermarket parts thrown in the box.

Don't over look the early Edgar or the T2 ! Both had unique parts.
