So the pin which holds the rear drive shaft to the axle keeps popping out. I have tried to reinstall and it comes after a short drive.

I was thinking of replacing them with joint universal drive but want to keep the same axle size. Or, if there are newer parts that would directly replace/fix this issue I'd be happy with that.

Back in the day we ran heat shrink around the joint to keep the pin in place.

I tried epoxy. Didn't hold

Jeff gave you the answer. heat shrink tubing artfully installed over the bell end of the cvd

I have never lost one of those pins. All you have to do is use a quality Allen wrench and a dab of blue thread lock when installing the set screw.

That looks like the newer style that will accept the retaining cup. The MIP type, not the AE metal band.

After ensuring the set screw and thread bore are clean, dry, and free of any oily residues. I have found CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner or CRC QD electronics cleaner to be an excellent oil/wax/grease remover for small parts especially where plastics are near or involved. That stuff evaporates immediately. But if you use alot of it like flooding an area or a prolonged streaming, the evaporative cooling makes the small parts cold and then you can experience atmospheric moisture condensing on the parts.

But the shrink tubing works also. You could double-whammy it with both treatments.

I remember an old RCCA pit tips that suggested nail polish as a field expedient thread locker alternative.

Didn't realize there is a set screw in there, looks like I'll have to take it all apart and try to go there. New to actually wrenching on my own stuff, my dad built it for me when I was like 13.
