Parts lot rebuild

While searching ebay, I came across this pile of Team Car parts. Since I had most of the parts needed, I decided to go ahead and rebuild it. And since I don't actually have a Team Car, it made the decision easier.

The shock towers and nylon parts were all purple, so that had to go.

The parts lot came with a nice set of TQ front tires. I have a decent set of TQ rear wheels with CE fronts, along with some new Pro-Line rear tires.

Started cleaning stuff up and putting it back together. Dyed all the parts black changed out a few things

I had a new servo saver laying around and figured it was perfect for this car.

Ordered up a carbon fiber Worlds car package from Vintage R/C. Its all 3/16", so that'll complicate the linkage placement (especially when using an original servo saver).

I didn't have any hard anodized car shocks but did have some nice top load golds. The gold and black actually looks pretty good together.

I wanted to use a battery cup and carbon fiber strap, but a previous owner had drilled several janky holes in that area. The Pure-Tech strap and brackets covered up all of that.

The transmission didn't have a slipper clutch, so I used a heavier duty one from a T3.

The front arms were in decent enough condition but I had a new set of RPM arms and decided to use them.

What makes it a team car? The black pan?

The black pan, then new Stealth transmission, hard anodized shocks, along with the TQ wheels and tires from the Graphite car. To the best of my knowledge, those are the primary differences.

I don't have any buggy hard anodized shocks, so I used gold ones. Hard anodized buggy fronts still seem to bring good prices and I already had some gold ones, so I couldn't justify buying something else.

The wheels I plan to use are actually CE three piece fronts and TQ rears. Incidentally, the World car used this same combination, except in yellow.

The only other black pac car that I own is actually built from a truck. It also uses a truck nose plate and bulkhead, with Dynotech arms. So this car is actually a little different for me, even though it is a fairly plain Jane car.

I'm using originals on this one.

Catching up on this one.

Finally got all the turnbuckles and bearings, made some new nose and wing tubes, installed a front bumper to cover the nicked up nose plate, and put in nice Reedy Tru stock.

I also got a body fitted (rough fit). I was going to use a Viper but chose a JConcepts Protector instead. It has a similar look to the Viper and Protech 2, without the fitment problems around the wing tubes and shock tower.

I had to swap the Vintage R/C trans brace for a thinner AE one, to get the body to sit lower.

Instead of the JConcepts Finnisher wing, I think I'll use an original style AE high downforce wing.

While I was in a wiring and soldering mood, I went ahead and wired this one too.

Since this one is more vintage based, I went with some Tekin electronics, TERX 75 receiver and TSC 410S esc.

I've had this sitting in the box for a while, seemed like a good time to use it.

They look to be right at home in a RC10 tub.

Also wired up the motor.

Got the silver and white "V" scallops painted and the reproduction AE wing trimmed. I paint all my wings from the bottom, so I removed the over-spray film and applied tape to the other side.

I'm using the same gold to red color change paint that is on my Team Truck, but I'm going to try to lighten it up a little by using a gunmetal backer instead of black.

Since the Spaz Stix, gunmetal, and silver are all metallics, I might just have to call it sparkles.

Got it painted. The color turned out a little different than I imagined. The metallic nature of the gunmetal caused the color to mostly have a gold to pewter look, with reddish accents at certain angles.

I was kinda iffy at first but its really starting to grow on me.

I tried to get some better pictures in different light, but the color shift doesn't do well for pictures.

Just had a Team Car along with Team Truck dropped off. They both need a bit of TLC. How difficult are replacement parts to come by?

I like the paint job and the Protech body. Your color scheme gives me a better idea of both the shape and fitment of the body on the RC10. Thanks for sharing!
