Snake Themed Tamiya Sand Viper

I have been practicing with my airbrush and tried to get this one done for the BOTM but it didn't come out as well as I was hoping. I plan to pick up another body and give it another go with what I have learned tho.
I did a snake themed paint job on my Tamiya Sand Viper. It has potential but the masking lifted on some of the contours and there were a few other details I want to correct.
The intention was for a 3 color fade but the 2 desert sand-ish colors on the lower half were too similar to notice a difference. I I don't mind the black bleed thru on the mask as it feels realistic but where the tape lifted on the contours the scales were lost completely.
I had a bottle of camo gray I wanted to use for the scale outline but when I tested it on some scrap lexan it seems to have gone bad as it looked like it tried to separate on contact.
Next version I will spread the darker brown further down the sides and use gray for the scales instead of white like I did on the wing (it was my rattle can backing color because I got lazy and didn't want to clean the airbrush again)
