Help identifying vintage dual resistor MSC...

Hey there!
I've been lurking for a while, and have recently gotten back into my RC10's. Now I need some help - I picked up a box of vintage parts locally with RC10, Tamiya, and Kyosho parts, among others, and it included what appears to be a resistor based mechanical speed control, but I am unable to identify it. It appears to be a pretty standard looking resistor setup, except for the attached heat sinks on both ends and the wrapping around a second resistor stacked together. Plus there
s a relay on the end, for unknown purposes... maybe switching directions? Quite an interesting configuration!
My best guess is it is from Parma, and seems to relate to some older slot-car electronics based on the wiper arms and wiring connection points that I've seen elsewhere online.... but I really am unsure. Besides some component coding on the black relay, The only identifying mark is a handwritten "8/10" (or "01/8"...?) on an uncoated part of the resistor.
Any insights???
I'd love to know more - it looks really cool and different from anything else I remember seeing!
Thanks for any help!!!
