My longterm TRX1 restoration project

Hi everyone, I just found this forum after being out of the hobby for a few years. Anyways, on to the story. Ahhh how Ebay can bring back old memories! I had a new TRX3 when I was about 14 or 15 and I remember when the TRX1 came out how bad I wanted one, I sold the TRX3 when I was racing touring cars about 10 years ago. I found this TRX1 while looking for a TRX3, it was in rough shape the tranny was crunchy and it was just in a general state of old broken stuff. I got the thing with a futaba 2pd radio and 410MXC (the COOL ESC from back in the day  ) for $68 shipped. I then started looking for parts and I was suprised how much Traxxas still had in stock, the new parts are black which looks better IMO. The front arms were an ordeal but I found some NIP one on Ebay recently, the tranny gears were a whole other story but thank Ebay and old hobbystores  . So here's some pics, remember I'm in the middle of the rebuild and need to order more parts as money permits, but I hope to soon have 90% of the plastic parts new.

That thing looks really nice. Let me knowwhich parts you are still looking for, as I have a bunch of new spares. Possibly trade for that wing?

Yea...traxxas TRX1 was the most reliable car I had experimented at that time.
At my club, gas and electic models had the same track, but run the different directions...but normally not at the same time.

I remember a facing crash between a TRX1 and a gas TT 1/8 in the straigh line: The burns had a broken front arm, but nothing special to declare for the traxx! Surely the reliability were its best advantage.

The problem of this car was only to make it turns well. What an understeering buggy isn't it ? I used the brakes a lot to turn around short corners!
Also something that was very interesting: the body was very easy to paint, because of its rounded shape. I remember lot of very nice painted-art bodies.

seller's remorse, now I want to find another one. Yep the trx1 handled like a limo, the trx3 on the other hand they got it right with that car and I never broke a single part on the 3 in 2 years of weekly racing. Off to ebay, dang it, thanks for stirring up old memories
