TRC Lynx II - back to street duty

After several years of searching, I finally managed to find one for a very reasonable price. Mis-titled on the Bay listing might have been reason it was overlooked until I came across it. With a BIN, it was mine :D ! Although, I have several other cars still in progress. Can never have to many, right?

Been wanting one since they came out many years ago. I heard they were very competitive on asphalt due their unique rear suspension but on carpet, the 10L's dominated. The rear pod remains parallel throughout its entire movement. Very cool! But this example "for parts" was locked up. Didn't move at all. Time to fix. :D

Here's how it looked when it survived a long postal trip in saran wrap and thin plastic envelope which was stuffed half hanging out of my mailbox

Most original parts still accounted for except rear axle. Chassis in very good shape as I suspect this car was shelved early due to possible broken axle and then forgotten.

Chassis stripped down and cleaned. This one was never CA'd around the edges so I began the process. I also decided to bling it up a bit by polishing the surfaces. This shows the internal carbon weave much better than leaving it with the original matte finish.

Stripped down rear suspension assembly and freed up shock hinge pins by polishing them with blue magic. Rebuilt the shock and filled with 35wt oil. Works like it should now. Will switch to all stainless screws for this one.

I've been lurking here...several remaining parts to complete several projects have taken a awhile but finally found.

I've been blown away by some of your builds lately. That Dominator was especially nice!

A little progress today. I decided to use a spare Associated rear axle and hubs vs the stock TRC. The diff side hub on the Associated seems a bit stronger and less likely to bend on impact. I thought I would go ahead and polish the aluminum parts for extra shine😎. To clean the magnesium crossbar I used a rag soaked with white vinegar. I didn't want to sand or wire wheel it since that would remove too much material. I also shimmed the inner front aluminum mount to increase clamping force on the crossbar. Removed all rust from rear stabilizer and then polished. More to follow......

I used a similar sway bar on my TRC/Delta hodgepodge.

I remember that build. That car turned out nice and screams "Custom"! Did you have a chance to put a body on it?

I have one picked out. I need to order three bodies from TBG and some decals from MCI.

I've just been working on other stuff.
