XX / XXT Transmission Braces

Does anyone know if the XX transmission braces with the "ears" or "fingers" on them give any extra strength or rigidity to the chassis or transmission compared to the simple little rectangular braces? This will be for a runner build with a modern motor. If the eared braces help anything there are some repros on ebay that I can pick up. If they don't do much I have one of the old rectangular tab styles I can use. Thanks!

I don't have any actual experience with the XX platform but it appears that the one with the fingers would have a lot more surface area to brace the transmission as well as triangulating the support to the chassis helping mitigate rear flex.

Thanks for the reply. It seems the ears will need to be in full contact with the bulkhead to be a benefit so I think I will use one and just make sure of the contact and add some material if need be.

I have only ever broken the ears off the transmission case just behind the holes that screw to the bulkhead. I don't believe either brace really solves that problem (unless others are suffering different failures to me).
What I have done is cut a piece of fibreglass/carbon that covers the holes in bulkhead and extends rearward all the way until the transmission angles up.
My buggy has done lots of silvercan racing and not failed like this.
My XXT has broken tabs and I have a plate over the top with some self tappers into the case. It has done thousands of brushless laps like this and is and still going strong. So whatever way you go, even if you do break the ears off it is cosmetic damage only and a nice carbon square will hide it.
