Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Decided to change up my comical JRX2 a little. Shortened the Factory Works Pro Mod Truck body (originals now available from Boki) by 3" and added a few contingency stickers. Made some custom oval towers, essentially the same as our LXT oval towers but I added 2x the holes to help with the comical look.
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
Machined two Tamiya re-release SRB rear axles from 5mm to 4mm diameter where the wheels sit and added Kyosho Scorpion drive washers to each.
This allows me to run unmodified Kyosho Scorpion wheels and tyres on the rear. The front wheels use four 5x8mm bearings. Swapping back to the older wheel/tyre combo takes no time at all.

If you want some more front grip, the JConcepts 1.9 fronts fit nicely on the Kyosho wheels.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Thanks. That gives me another option other than Kyosho soft fronts.juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 10:04 am If you want some more front grip, the JConcepts 1.9 fronts fit nicely on the Kyosho wheels.

Shotgun is coming together in preparation for vintage racing early next month...
Hopefully, will finish rebuilding the shocks tonight, and get them installed. After that, I can start on the battery mount for the shorty pack, connect the steering linkage, and look at installing the rest of the electricals. Then it's just body mounts, wheels and tyres, gear and motor covers, and tidy up a body.... this might just have to get repurposed:
Still got a week and a half... no biggie...
Tore down the Pro shocks, and noticed this on one of them:
Yep, that's an e-clip embedded in the seal cartridge. Found an extra e-clip in the shock body itself, too! Plus, the shock shaft on this shock was bent... someone had fun!Hopefully, will finish rebuilding the shocks tonight, and get them installed. Worked on a DS that overall was in very nice condition other than needing a new chassis.

Modified the Optima's battery mounts to hold a shorty lipo properly. The Velcro straps weren't going to manage. To remove the battery just unscrew the thumbnut and remove the post and lipo.
Also made and fitted 12 grams of brass weight to the Optima's nose. It's easy to remove if needed.

Whilst I had the brass out, I made a 14.5 gram nose weight for the Classic.

Your RC10 must have been eating a lot of carrots or at least terrorizing some backyard gardens. Those are some seriously orange front arms! Very cool!

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
More work done on the Shotgun.... body fitted, radio gear sorted, and made my own LiPo tray out of a busted Cat XLS chassis plate. Have sorted electronics to use, and tested the receiver and servo. Still got to get back to the shocks, and then put it all together... but it's getting there!

This truck is almost as old and crusty as me!!!
