Hey there,
I'm planning on racing my rc10 in a 17.5 class. I've been looking the hobbywing justock and stock spec esc's and the 17.5 motor combo also.
Any input on a solid performance esc and motor would be greatly appreciated.
I've also considered something used, possibly novak or lrp if they would give me good performance.

I would suggest the Hobbywing 10BL120 ESC as a good budget level ESC. I use this with a Surpass 13.5 motor in my Tekno EB410.2 and in RT6 17.5 truck and RB7 buggy as well. There are certainly better units if you are chasing the bleeding edge of performance, but is is a reliable option for recreational racers such as myself.

I don't race, but I have used the old Novak electronics and the Hobbywing esc. The Justock is a great esc and seems a bit higher quality than the 10bl60/120.
Depending on what you want to spend it's likely worth it to look at the higher end models. As far as motors go for the class it's really competitive. There are a lot of reviews on the specific motors, batteries and chargers that get the best performance. Most any modern 17.5motor will be 'fine' but there seem to be definitive advantages to each year.

I have not raced since 2017 and I use LRP flow, but undoubtedly Hobbywing are the market leader, I did briefly have a HW xerun 120A which is available cheap but for a stock class Mikea96 suggestion is solid especially if you intend to race in blinky class. :D

For blinky stock spec is all you actually have to have...although I prefer ProStock!....but the ProStock offers alot of adjustibility...boost/turbo etc.... u might want in a non stock class...basically u can make a 17.5 run like a 7.5 or even better
