Another lucky find.....

This is the actual TAG Pro10 RCMC review car (Sept '88), complete with optional central roller clutch and alloy motor mount (neither of which i have seen before) supplied by Phil Greeno. I was offered this as a loft find by the guy who wrote the mag review so snapped it up. I have always wanted to find a Pro10 to go with my Coyote, and this was the one to have!

It arrived and i was really shocked at the totally unmarked conditions, and it also came with all of the paperwork, manuals, stickers and so on. The motor mount is really quite unusual - i checked with Umberto pernice and he informed me that the alloy mount and the one-way central clutch were factory options, although i have never seen them listed as such.

I have also stumbled across a set of the correct 3 hole Gisom alloys for it on eBay - I was the only bidder so got them for an absolute steal, so they will be going onto it too. I might switch out the original shocks, which although nice are not the Option House golds which i prefer and ran on all of my cars bitd, plus they are what the TAG team used for racing....

I will add more pictures as i work it over but so far it is just lovely! Much more sturdy than my Coyote.

That's interesting what Umberto said about the motor mount and the front one way being options. I'll keep an eye out for those now.

Never seen either part or reference to them .very cool

Zoom in to the third and top of the fourth columns of page 1 in the mag review above and they get a mention.

They aren't mentioned on the official tuning parts list i have (sorry for the crap picture quality).

I have gathered a few parts on this list though.

Does anybody have an idea what the '003 096 Attack Angle Kit' is for??

Those light weight diff parts are cool but there's something reassuring about the heavy black hardened steel parts .

Yes i agree with that entirely.... that optional part will be staying in the packet! I will be fitting the arb though, and this attack angle kit - once i know what it does and where it goes!!!

I'd guess it replaces the rear pivot balls one front lower arms to give some front kick , caster angle.

You are correct - I just got a reply from Umberto Milanesi himself and he said that is exactly what they are for. He said to add them then use additional washers if needed for even smaller tweaks. I suppose they can be used one the front or rear end as required. Pretty cool anyway.

It's kind of what I've been designing in my thread coyote rethink only in a more basic DIY form so immediately made sense to me .

That might come across a bit big headed but nobody had the CAD tools to play with that I do in the 1980s and as a teenager back then I'd never have thought of what they did .

True, but fitting them will put less stress on the shelf.

I saw that and was surprised that the Pro 10 would come with the plastic Coyote motor mount. I assumed the optional part was the 2mm folded aluminium mount that seems to be the standard one. Maybe the one you have was too costly to machine and would have bumped the kit's sale price up too much? Then TAG found a cheaper way to make a metal motor mount?

I can only guess that this is one of the earlier examples, which would be supported by the fact that it was used as a mag review car. The silver angled metal parts on the hubs (I have also seen golds available) might also hint at this perhaps? I have gold equivalents that i might swap out at some point. Does anybody know when the Pro10 was actually released?
I have also got one of the other flat aluminium plate type of motor mounts still in the packet - i am presuming that because this has come individually packaged that it was offered as an optional part at some stage before becoming a standard item for the model? I'm not really sure how they came in the box although I can confirm the bits and bobs that arrived along with my Pro10 (stickers, manuals and a few other odds and sods) included the bog standard black plastic mount as per the Coyote.
I already had a few pairs of the famous 5 row TAG rear tyres which were used to such good effect during the Portschach European Championships, but i didn't realise until now that they also made matching fronts. I found a pair on the 'Bay last week. They look a lot like the CAT offerings of the day although i am told were a slightly different compound and the spikes are everso slightly longer.

Wasn't the Pro 10 released in 1988?
