More Hot, less Shot

This is my Vintage racer for an upcoming event in a couple of weeks, I don't think I could have picked a worse race car, lol. I only picked the Hotshot because it was cheap and I needed something to fill in a second class. I hate silver can racing as it's a cheaters class where your up against oddball silver cans, tweaked comms and red dot motors. The Hotshot wont stand a chance but at least it will be fun racing against the clock to see how well a bone stock Hotshot goes.
It has a hobbywing 1080 ESC and a fairly high spec digital steering servo, which is pretty pointless considering the amount of bump steer. The 1986 radio on 27am will make for an interesting adventure

I just hope there won't be any interference.
I'm no painter and not that the Hotshot paint job is all that hard but I think it came out satisfactory,
and I'm not even a Tamiya guy......
And many many thanks to Alex for finding the radio for me.

Great work RJ, you've created the quintessential vintage RC image... old radio, Tamiya RC bag, and a Hot Shot - add gold wheels to the Hotshot, a set of fast charge 'suicide' leads, and a leaking 1200 Nicad, and the picture would be complete!
Step away from the idea of it being a race meet, and just enjoy running such an obvious throwback to earlier RC days... that's my entire plan for the weekend!
Oh, and maybe, just maybe, grab another receiver for your main truck's radio,
just in case... you should be fine with the AM radio, but you'd hate to be stuck with others doing the same as you, all on the same channel!
Nice work, I think you'll have a blast! Look forward to watching you
send it.
Alex

Thanks Alex
I thought about the gold wheels but I kinda like the white ones, plus I'm trying not to spend too much money on it.
Thete are a few sets of suicide leads here somewhere, hmmmmm........
It will be a fun event (I think) race meeting or not. It's hard not to go for broke in the heat of action
My main truck will be on 2.4 if I can finish it in time.

For a true vintage experience, only run it with four bearings. Leave all the bushings in place. That'll make it even slower! Just like the good old days!

Just make sure to pack the No-Doz....

Well, that's actually one of the few things I have upgraded, it has premium bearings. I'm sure any advantage is likely negated by the out of round gears, I fully expect it to sound like a wood chipper going down the straight

I can post these to you RJ. Don't know if they'll help?
Definitely vintage. I've had them for 38 years.

That's awesome, I'll definitely take them and add them to my 80's racer kit if you don't want them.
That's not a proper charge lead though is it? One of the wires should be a resistance wire.
I wonder how they'd go charging a lipo ?

Yep. It's real. Both leads are resistance wires.
