Just picked up a used rc10gt and was wanting to upgrade the engine, I took about 20 years off of this hobby and wow things have changed. Anyone have any suggestions on new engines it’s like all that’s out there is .21s or traxxas engines.

If I was looking to buy a brand new engine today, the OS .12 TG, seems like the only option from OS. Looks like the shaft would need to be cut down to fit under the bell clutch, not sure how well this engine would work.

I found a used OS .12 CV last night for $40 on eBay. Might just keep watching the auctions looking for OS. 12 CV, or OS .12 CZ.

Any pics of your new GT? Welcome!

If you are wanting to maximize performance, convert it to brushless.

Just saying.

Yea do they still sell rebuild kits for those old OS motors I’ve never rebuilt one before I was younger when I had all my old ones and sold all of it after I got my license lol

Missed your question earlier somehow, sorry about that, I've looked for the piston and sleeve kits for the older OS .12, they are not easy to find. There are two versions of the replacement sleeve and piston, the best is he ABC version which is aluminum brass and chrome, those last a long time. The standard replacement, if you can even find those, are not chrome, but the CZ and CV series were lower cost and were never ABC to begin with.

The rest of the parts like the connecting rod, and even the short-shaft for the GT, are still pretty easy to get.

What engine did you get with your kit?

The OS CV-R range of engines were fantastic, they had ABC piston/sleeve so they were durable and performed great. The OS CV range of engines were more budget minded as they has ABN piston/sleeves, but they were reliable if you looked after them.

As far as more modern engines the .18 CV-R and TG should be suitable. There are other engines that fit as well but not as common.
