No pain, no gain. Right???

Reading a couple stories on another post got me thinking. We need a pain for pleasure thread. No Halgar, not that kind of pain

. I'm talking about the pain we inflict on ourselves with Dremels, X-actos and what not. I'll start with a couple minor mishaps.
I still have the head of a #11 X-acto blade wedged in the second knuckle of my ring finger. I was trimming some mono-cote on my .25 Global Raven when the blade slipped and I stabbed myself right between the joints. That was 6 years ago and I still cannot bend that finger fully closed. Sometimes, it hurts real bad.
I was polishing my stainless Beretta with a wire wheel on my Dremel years ago. I went to wash my face to get the compund off me and the wash towel kept getting stuck to my face about 2 inches below my left eye. I did a thorough investigation and saw a little piece of metal sticking out. I grabbed it with some tweezers and proceeded to pull out a full length piece of wire, at least an inch long from my face. I never felt a thing. I never wore goggles till then. Now I use them anytime I fire up the dremel.
So, what are your stories? I'm sure you have all been burnt, stabbed, sliced, hit, smacked or maimed in one way or another. I have other stories I will share later. But for now, it is your turn.

Recently I was using a small (maybe even "dainty") pair of Needle Nosed Pliers rather roughly, and one side broke off, sending the other side DEEP into my let Thumb Knuckle. When I grabbed it, as we are want to do when injured, BUBBLES oozed out with the BRIGHT red blood.
A while ago, I was Modifying a Stainless Steel piece on a Paintball Gun by hand (meaning I wasnt using a Vise, as I should have) and Drilled a PERFECT hole through one finger, and into the next. You can STILL see where it went in BOTH fingers. Surely that will be the STUPIDEST story told here!!

I have a couple. I was stripping a tamiya hardbody with easy off oven cleaner. I was wearing rubber gloves so i thought I was protected. when I was scrubbing off the paint, a little drop got on my forearm. I didn't notice it until I felt a tingling and the drop had melted a lille hole in my arm.
Another one was when I had a battery in my coat pocket. when I grabbed it , it shorted out heating up my titanium wedding ring to like fricken 9000 degrees. What you see here is the permanent scar tissue

Ohhh, RCrotten.com!
Ironically I got my first real bad "RC injury" at my first race with an RC10. I was walking off the rostrum when my arm just under the wrist was slashed by a very sharp welding line on the balustrade. The cut was around 10 centimeters long and even after some 15 or 16 years I still have an around 3 centimeter long scar at that point.
After I cut my arm I wrapped an old t-shirt around it, continued the race and even managed to finish in 3rd place to get my 1st trophy ever.

There was this one time ... Oh wait, Tad said I couldn't tell that story.
I don't think I've really ever hurt myself doing the R/C thing, beyond the usual scrapes and things. Now, if you want to go back to my construction days, that's another story. The worst one was when I had a tie-down rope break, sending me falling 3' down to a nice comfy asphalt landing, flat on my back. I only lost consciousness for a few moments, shook it off and finished the rest of the work day (did I mention it was about 9am when it happened?) I did have a heck of a headache all day. When I got back to the office, the boss said to take the next day off and go see the doctor so that he could tell me what I already knew, that I had a concussion.
I'll see if I can think of an R/C instance just to keep within the spirit of the topic.

I upgraded my T-Maxx to a Picco .26 and after breaking the pull start several times, finally upgraded to a rotostart. Anyone ever check the torque on one of these? I had the driver sitting on my leg playing with it like all kids with new toys. Then I accidentally bumped the start which in turn wrapped into my pajamas and pinned the button on for a couple seconds. It felt like days. That thing tore up my jammies and ripped a nice hole in my leg.

Ok, ok.
My RC related injury was when I was trying to trim a body on my RC10 to make it fit better with an Xacto knife. I was trying to use a little too much pressure and something gave way (body flexed , my hand slipped, or something) and I ended up putting a #11 Xacto blade through my the top of my left index finger. I have a scar on both sides of my index finger form entry and exit. We have video of it from when I came back from the emergency room all stitched up. I'd like to have a still frame cap of it cause it was pretty nasty looking.
I have other scars, but I don't think any of the other ones are RC related. For instance, I got an ambulance ride by jamming a putty knife into me left arm on accident.

Gosh...I've sliced myself so many times that I can't think of anything dermel/x-acto related.
I do have an Unger story. Years ago, I bought the bigest soldering iron I could find. It was an unger 150ish watt iron with a half inch wide tip. That sucker was one of the best irons that I've owned.
Like many nights, I was working on my car and I had to solder something. It was summer, so I had shorts on. You guessed it!!, I dropped the iron on the inside of my leg. HOLY CRAP!!!!

that hurt!! It left a hals inch square scar on my leg. The scar's faded, but the memory will always be there.

So what you're saying is that your user name is appropriate! LOL
Welcome to RC10Talk. Looks like you're going to fit in quite well.
