Martin's RC10- ebay + second generation (father's first car)

This is My RC10. I am rebuilding it from my dad's one and only rc10 (original 1984 kit) and one of of ebay i got for about $60 (graphite tub-1989 kit). I have been playing around with my dad's since i was 11 and im 17 now. I was a nube back then and thought it would look cool to paint the nylon white parts all black, not knowing the consequences. Luckily, the one off of ebay had a perfect transmission, and all the white parts intact, in perfect condition. I have cleaned everything off, and mounted the basics: (see attachment sta2.jpg)
Then from there (4 hours of intense labor later)(see attachment sta4.jpg)
I use an oil pen from radioshack and i highly recommend it for oiling ball and socket joints, and other places where metal comes in contact with anything else, it is silicon oil btw.
Well, we all know there is no way to purchase rc10 orriginal tires for front or rear, but i found one compatible with the front, made by hpi i believe, ill have pics of that soon. I found rear rims with the same tires that work real well with hex to pin adapters. I only have one problem now, the front rims are whitish nylon (painted several times, almost got all the pain off and smoothed, and the rear rims are a perfect black. Assuming i remove all the paint and smooth the nylon with sand paper, is there any way to dye it, or do i have to paint it. I have heard rumors about dying it, but where do you get nylon die? can you use food coloring straight up, or must you mix it with something, or other type of dye? Plz respond to this question if you know!
pic of rims:
I will put up more pictures when it is finnished!

a good long soak in some brake fluid or super clean will get all that icky paint off and not hurt the plastic.

Sorry, I had someone hit me with that animation one time after I goofed, I've saved it for a while to be able to use it again. If you need help, give us a holler.
Looks like a great start to a project. Keep the updates coming.

Well, graphite car is all finished now excepted electrical and rims, this is the graphite one in the above pics. My 84 original i have almost got all the paint off suspension and tub (gold), and will just repaint the tub gold cause of all the scratches. When all paint is soaked off, i will assemble it, with home made plastic rear shock tower (which is 2 separate pieces). I will have pics of both cars semi complted soon. Also, the guy in belgium with all the rc10s, cant remember his name, maybe gonna ship me some gears that i need, cause tranny in bad condition in second car (84' original). btw, power steering is the same as break fluid, and for some reason all out of break fluid, probably used it all up in my dad's leaky master break in his vista cruiser+ 350 rocket. Too bad we got rid of that car.

Well, im keeping you updated- heres more pics. As you can tell from the second pic, the rear clear shock tower came out great, sanded it down, sprayed it with clear coat, its so shiny, thats the first thing my friend said when he saw it on my desk, without knowing id redone it. The front right bearings seem to be damaged, gonna have to order them off of tower, or get them from my awesome hobbie shop. The rims are soaking in power steering, cause i dont have any break fluid, my dad an mcgyver both said they are the same almost. Well they are not, or i have a tough paint, it isnt working, and when i get some remover fluid, i will soak them in that. I recomend a special paint remover. Go to your at home chemical closet- spray and sniff some spray paint. Go to your local hardware store and sniff the paint remover. If it smells like the paint, buy it. That means the enzymes are the same and it will break down the paint. Should be about $7 for a quart in a tin container. I ordered the messed up tranny gears off of tower for my second car, which i wont start rebuilding for another week, cause i need to get a chunk of aluminum from my gramps to remake the skid plate.
