1996 would see the last new model built on Associated's aluminum RC10 tub when they debuted their 1/10th scale pavement car, the RC10DS. Black anodized just as before, the chassis received a new bolt-on nose plate with 8 degrees of kickup and DS specific bulkheads, lowered shock tower, shorter a-arms and shorter turnbuckles; while the steering blocks, carriers, servo saver and bellcrank would come from the RC10GT. All topped off by a new large plastic bumper. Rear suspension was comprised of new shorter arms and turnbuckles with standard RC10 mounts, hub carriers and 3/16th stub axles. Attached to the rear of the chassis was a new bulkhead, lowered shock tower and transmission brace connected to the smaller 2.25:1 ball differential equipped Stealth transmission with aluminum motor mount. A couple Sport models and a Race version would get unique parts between them; with universal axles, bearings and short PTFE shocks less electronics and body for the Race, while gold shocks, bushings, dogbones, electronics and a choice of Mustang or Mercedes bodies would adorn the Sports. All three kits would get chrome plated plastic wheels with gold BBS style inserts shod in Pro-Line Speed Hawg rubber tires. A conversion kit was also offered, containing all the components necessary to turn your RC10 into a DS:
