In 1997, two years after unveiling the 1/10th scale RC10B2 off-road buggy, Team Associated replaced it with the RC10B3. Exactly the same at a glance, closer inspection revealed significant updates. The B3 retained the existing composite plastic chassis design and built upon it with longer a-arms, turnbuckles, new shock tower and updated castor/steering blocks with T3 ballcups, all attached to the B2's bolt-on aluminum nose plate. Front sway bar provisions were added while the B2's steering system was carried over. Rear suspension was similarly updated with longer control arms, new carrier blocks, inner mounts, T3 ballcups and a revised aluminum tail plate. The rear bulkhead added sway bar mounts and connected to the 2.4:1 Stealth transmission featuring a new, larger, slipper assembly. Four models, Basic, Sport, Team, and for the first time, Factory Team, were available. Basic kits retained the B2's Flo-yellow 2-1/8 front wheels with new larger 2.2 rears, gold anodized shocks with clamp collars, a tall rear shock tower, dogbones, and bushings, less electronics. The Sport added electronics to the basic kit and was the last RC10 buggy equipped with a mechanical speed controller. Team kits received new, larger, one-piece Pro-Line 2.2 wheels front and rear (yellow early/white late), PTFE shocks with spring clips, new shorter rear shock tower, MIP CVD's and full bearings, less electronics. Lastly the Factory Team added a graphite impregnated chassis and suspension components, titanium turnbuckles and suspension hardware, blue anodized aluminum chassis components and blue anodized hardware. All kits were supplied with 2.2 Pro-Line Holeshot M2 rear and 2.2 4-Rib M2 front tires while bodies would differ, with Sport/Basic kits receiving a Pro-Line Deja Vu body and Team/Factory Team kits wearing a Pro-Line Deja Vu Tu body:
