In 1997, vying to bolster their international appeal, Team Losi released their first 1/10 electric 4wd touring sedan, which they named, the Street Weapon. Released concurrently the with XX-4 four-wheel drive off-road buggy upon which it is based the Street Weapon would win Losi an IFMAR World Championship before its off-road sibling. An accomplishment the sedan was able to achieve using a 1/2 inch shorter graphite composite plastic mini-tub chassis and cam adjustable motor mounted on the leading edge of the chassis rather than the trailing edge to increase forward weight distribution. Power was then sent through a slipperless spur gear to its fully enclosed belt drive system with front and rear mounted ball differentials and steel universal axles at all four corners. Just as the XX-4 the Street Weapon was equipped with a "Clicker" spring-loaded ratcheting gear attached to the front drive cog to adjust the amount of off-power free-wheel in the front drivetrain. Which, using the included spacer, could be locked in for full engagement. The remainder of the car was as equally advanced as its buggy twin, but its Akerman adjustable steering and 4-wheel independent lower a-arm/adjustable camber link suspension was narrowed a staggering 2-1/2 inches for compliance to the 190mm width regulation of the touring car class. Shorter composite shock towers, and short .36 inch stroke Hard Body oil-filled, Teflon coated, coilover shocks with adjustable collars were installed as well. Molded split 5 spoke hex mount wheels, Losi LST S-10 tires, and Teflon sealed bearings completed the cars drivetrain which was sold as an unassembled kit with a clear lexan sedan body, less radio and electronics:
