I bought my first rc10 B stamp. It looks original except for a couple parts I haven’t quite figured out yet.
I’ve been reading as much as I can for the past couple years. One thing I never learned a lot about is what rear axles most eras have?
I think my car is roughly 1987. Maybe some folks can help me out further to understand what’s going on with it.
1. The rear has square edges on the shock tower but the front seems to have more rounded edges.
2. The rear axles are u joint type with a touch of gold color.
3. Team associated on the front tires. Aftermarket or special order tires on rear.
4. Ball bearings in spur gear.
5. Strange little diagonal battery holders

This was of course bought not built so I don’t know if all these parts came in one single box or if they’re a hodgepodge from years and years of running this. My guess would be the ladder.
I feel like there are some strong indications for certain years but there are several different strong indicators for different years.
I’m thinking it’s an earlier crossover model between Edinger and Cadillac.

Great looking car. It’s going to be a lot of fun and you have a few aftermarket parts.

The bearings in the spur gear are actually the diff. On the first generation rc10’s(this one) there was no slipper and it used a onroad style diff gear.

It was common for the rear tires to wear all the way out before the fronts. Given the age you should replace both sets of tires with new ones.

Some people mounted the battery diagonal. The original rc10 needed the battery to be cut apart and taped to fit the way the associated meant it to fit.
Some people just rotated the battery slightly so no cutting was necessary

Thanks for the info. It seemed like the rear has a posi type gearing. When you roll one wheel forward the other also moves forward the same direction. It makes total sense that it has no slipper now that you said it.

I would guess the wheels and the rear axles are aftermarket. I would also guess the battery hold down is aftermarket. I know the body is aftermarket but the picture file size was too large to load.

I have a bunch of Rc cars but this is the first rc10. I was so excited to have won the bidding on this car. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it to see what all the fuss was about.

It’s awesome to be a new to me owner of such an iconic car. What a cool piece of history. I was too young to have one “new” when I was a kid.

Just guessing, but I suspect that this car was originally an A stamp car and the chassis was replaced at some point.

A true B stamp car should have had long arms, 0.71 front shocks, and a Stealth transmission.

Not that there is anything wrong with the car. Most of mine are hodgepodges of whatever I wanted to build at the time.

I need slotcarrod to tell me if I have the very rare white Worlds car rear control arms.
“The new Worlds type rear arms with shorter inner hinge pin and extra bracing in the center.”
I’m not sure how short the inner hinge pins were. I have the extra bracing in the center.

Looks like I need to buy another car so I can compare these control arms to a different set!

The rear arms that are on your car were replaced at one point later in it’s life. They are the original white version of the worlds black arms. In my opinion the sum of its parts indicates that it was an earlier A stamp car.

Seems like a nice little hodgepodge!

I think Duratrax offered the gold rear universals. You don't see them very often.

I bought another rc10 B stamp with the same white worlds control arms. Two in a row!
Now I need to clean them up a bit. I’ll probably use this second one as a runner because the gold color has been taken off. I want to powder coat the chassis.
If using it as a runner should I buy regular control arms and preserve these White Worlds rear arms?
