This is my local hobby shop Pacific Coast Hobbies. Been there many times and never noticed this one in a case at the back of the store. Bit of a mashup but it has early production shocks & chassis with the very light anodizing. Never seen this in person. Other early parts inside too (too hard to take pics to see). Not sure of the story behind it.

The '24 makes me think it was signed by both Jay and Cliff this year. Cool buggy even without the signatures.

Oh yeah I didn't put 2 & 2 together. Has the 40th brochure too. So must be new display. Just thought it was cool, the car is mostly an honest old build, has old dinged up parts etc.. has the original mechanical speed control.

Not to spoil the fun any further but those aren't early light anno shocks. The anno is just sun faded. Look on the tower side, especially the fronts, they're darker on the back side. They've had the car a while... Google pic from Nov. 2020:
Cool car though, you got some pretty nice pictures of it.

wait is that the same car? Cool. Looked old to me, especially the chassis. But I did notice the shocks did have
some gold color, whereas the prototype shocks seem to have no gold anodizing at all. If so it's lived a hard life, I have my RC10 from 1986 and the shocks are pretty much the same gold as when new.
I'm glad I posted about it, I knew some might appreciate it and give some details. My 10yo son... not so impressed as I spent an inordinate amount of time checking it out
