In 1989 Yokomo released to the United States a 1/10 4wd off-road buggy they named the YZ-10. Imported by Team Associated the YZ-10 was an Americanized version of Yokomo's YZ-870c originally imported by Ranch Pit Shop (Team Losi) as the RPS/Yokomo C-4 in 1987. Losi would continue to sell the C-4 through 1988, however by the spring of 1989 Associated branded YZ-10's would take their place on store shelves. The newest American Iteration of Yokomo's 4wd buggy was built off a black fiberglass flat plate chassis with cutouts for saddle mounted batteries. Plastic capped magnesium front and aluminum rear bulkheads connected the YZ-10's nylon lower a-arm and turnbuckle adjustable camber link four-wheel independent suspension to the chassis while the turnbuckle adjustable bellcrank steering system with built in servo saver and a rear anti-sway bar provided guidance and stability in the corners. Oil-filled anodized aluminum Yokomo shocks with adjustable spring collars at all four corners would be supported by graphite plate shock towers at both ends. Power from the mid-mounted motor would be sent from the slipper equipped pinion and spur primary drive through either a one-way clutch for part time 4wd or a direct drive hub for full time 4wd. Twin drive belts lead to ball differentials inside the alloy bulkheads which would continue the flow of power out to hardened steel universal driveshafts held in place by aluminum hub carriers. Single piece white nylon wheels were secured to aluminum wheel hubs and wrapped in rubber spiked tires. A new clear lexan Protech body was included with the kit which came with full bearings, less radio and electronics:
