Kyosho Vanning

In 1985 Kyosho introduced a 1/8 4wd nitro powered buggy called the Vanning. Preceded by the similar but trailing arm equipped Land Jump from 1980 and sharing its manual with the Presto Buggy the Vanning was built on an aluminum square tube ladder frame with a tubular roll cage. Its molded nylon 4-wheel independent double a-arm suspension with red anodized aluminum, adjustable collar, oi-filled coilover shocks at all four corners connected to the chassis via nylon bulkheads and featured a centered steering bellcrank with threaded tie rods and built in servo saver. Sandwiched in-between the front and rear bulkheads were a pair of oil-filled bevel geared differentials that were chain driven by a centrifugal clutch engaged pinion and spur primary drive, with stopping power handled by a single rear differential mounted disk brake. Outboard of the bulkheads power from the differentials would pass through a quartet of steel dogbone axles spinning on sealed bearings housed inside aluminum hub carriers up front and nylon hub carriers out back. Three piece "phone dial" nylon wheels wrapped in spiked Sand Super rubber tires put the power to the ground. A round plastic gas tank was attached to the rear, a large plastic bumper protected the front, and a mid-mounted electronics box with gasketed lid secured the receiver, batteries and steering/throttle servos. The electronics box was hidden from view by a clear lexan driver however electronics nor a motor were included, though the Vanning was designed to accept a myriad of engines from .20 to .25 in displacement:
